System of A Down

So a member of the staff here at Toywiz just said that his all-time least favorite band is System of A Down. Can you believe that System of A Down is his go-to bad band? I'm flabbergasted.
What do you people out there think? Is System of A Down really that bad? Is it anyone else's go-to bad band?

Iwako Erasers

My colleague Mike just put an Iwako Eraser on my desk. I didn't even know we had these things but they are amazing!
Imported from Japan, you can get an eraser in just about anything. Baseball , Sea Life , even food & drinks.
These things are going fast, so get yours now!

Back to the Future

Back to the Future has been on TV a lot lately and every time I pass by it, I'm instantly hooked.
Everyone would love to be able to travel time, so the initial attraction to the movie is there. I mean, who hears about a time traveling movie and is like " Forget that, I don't want any part of it."
But it's not just the fact that it's a cool concept, the movies were well made.
Michael J. Fox was really at the top of his game and even though there were some changes in the cast from one movie to the other, the other actors didn't skip a beat.
Beyond that, the writers and producers of the film created multiple time lines and were able to seamlessly go from one time line to another.
Few movies can hold up as well as Back to the Future has, but even as recently as last week, there was a reference to the movie in a TV show (Chuck, for any fans out there.)
Aspiring writers and producers should make sure to check out Back to the Future as a guide on what to do.

Summer Movies

Last Summer, the big movie was The Dark Knight.
Does any movie come close this summer? Which big flick is going to be a flop? What are you most excited to see?

Old School Nintendo!

Jackalope here reminiscing about the good old 8-bit glory days of Old School Nintendo.
Recently the guys in the office have had Nintendo on their minds.
New controllers and systems that allow you to play your old Nintendo games just came in to the office. Obviously once Nintendo was on the minds of everyone, various opinions were brought up. I brought up the arguments of the merits of Metroid Vs. Megaman and Dragon Warrior Vs. Final Fantasy to a close by announcing my two favorite games for the NES: Faxanadu and Battle of Olympus!
Silence was followed by an emphatic "What are those?" Yes, the prevailing opinion of those that could recall the games were not positive. Sad, really.
So everyone has a strong opinion about NES, here is the chance to voice yours!

New McFarlane figures

The new McFarlane Baseball figures (series 24) just arrived today and they really look great.
To look at the figures up close in their new packaging, it's not hard to picture the players in action, making a diving catch, hitting a home run or striking out another batter.
McFarlane went with some soon to be Hall of Famers and some of the biggest names in the game in Kosuke Fukudome, Mike Lowell, Jimmy Rollins and more.
When every figure in the set is an all-star, it's pretty clear the figures are a can't miss!

American Idol

Another week of American Idol is about to begin and this season has been one of the most exciting ones.
From the star studded performers, to the addition of a new judge, it seems that every week has a twist or turn just around the bend.
And of course, it's always worth it to tune in just to see what Simon will say next.
There are only five performers left and with the big names that have been trotted out so far, it should be interesting to see what happens this week!

Superheroes

If you had the ability to become any superhero, who would it be? Would it be one that has cool superpowers? Would it be one that fights for good against evil? There are many choices to choose from, so make your decision wisely.

YuGiOh Special Edition: Cost Vs. Value

Jackalope here with a thought on the Raging Battle Special Edition coming out.
Unless Konami has a sudden change of heart, it looks like the S.E. products are here to stay. For those unfamiliar, shortly after a set comes out, an S.E. pack follows, containing three Booster Packs from the set and two reprint foil cards from prior sets. Depending on one's point of view, the foil cards can be either a boon or a bane to the game.
Let's look at the good points and the bad.
The Good: New players (or players on a budget) have a chance to get some of the most sought after and powerful cards of the time. The cards also help retailers sell product as they are a draw for consumers to buy multiple Special Editions.
The Bad: Value murder. Cards like Gladiator Beast Heraklinos go from a $80+ card to a $5+ card seemingly overnight. Consumers who had bought the cards are now out of money while retailers who stocked it are stuck with dead product. Some retailers may also be weary of keeping and or stocking money cards for fear they might be reprinted in this way.
I can see both points of view and I can appreciate either.
What do you think?

New Star Trek movie

The new Star Trek movie is being released in just under two weeks and it seems that every time I turn on my TV, I see a commercial for it.
I have to be completely honest, I've never been a big Star Trek fan. Of course I knew the basics, including "Beam Me Up, Scotty" and "KHAN!!" but I can't say I've ever sat through a full episode of the show.
That being said, I'm pretty psyched to see the new movie. It looks like J.J. Abrams is going in a good direction with the flick.
So what do the hardcore fans think about it? Is it going to be another great installment in the Star Trek series, or is it going to be the next Rocky V? Any casting mistakes, or great casting choices?

Tough Loss for the Yanks!

I've suffered through some bad Yankees losses in my life, but wow, that was a tough one to swallow.
Rejoice Red Sox fans, I'll admit you got us good. But don't count us out for today, AJ will bring a little sweet revenge!

NHL Playoffs

Well, the best time of the year is here once again. The sun is shining, the flowers are blooming and of course... the NHL Playoffs are underway!
Now once you get to know me a little more, you'll see that I am an unabashed fan of the New York Rangers. With the Rangers leading their series 3-1 with a chance to move on to the next round, there is a lot of excitement around here. The Rangers have found a way to shut down the league's most impressive superstar in Alex Ovechkin.
Speaking of Ovechkin, McFarlane is releasing Wave 22 of NHL figures in August, and it includes the 56-goal scorer, in the cool Capitals away jersey! So whether you love Ovechkin, hate him or just love to hate him.. Check him out here!
So what do you guys think? Is Ovechkin the best player out there? If not, who is? And most importantly, who's gonna hoist the Stanley Cup in June?
